Here’s an opportunity to visit one in August.

If you’re a fan of spine-chilling adventures or have children who would love Halloween to arrive in summer, take a quick trip from you apartment on the Gold Coast and experience the Sheffield Island Haunted Lighthouse Tour.

Sheffield Lighthouse will be turned into a child-friendly haunted house on [Saturday] Aug. 9 and [Sunday] Aug. 10. If you love ghosts, ghouls and things that go bump in the night as much as your children, the enjoyably scary hosts waiting to greet you will delight each family member.

With only two rooms kept dark, this haunted house has gentle thrills and chills that are more amusingly scary than terrifying. Pass through 10 rooms hosting children’s activities along with the anticipated frights.

Take an early ferry and enjoy a picnic lunch, play on the lawn or search for shells along the beach as the sun sets and you prepare to meet your fate in the lighthouse. While all activities are free, you must purchase ferry tickets for all members of your party.
