Shorehaven Golf Club Undergoes a Two-Phased Transformation

The Shorehaven Golf Club in Norwalk, CT recently underwent a two-phased transformation by KG+D Architects, PC.

KG+D Architects collaborated with Shorehaven Golf Club in Norwalk, CT on a two-phased transformation encompassing a complete renovation of the main clubhouse and surrounding site, the pool house and the tennis pavilion in order to better serve the existing members and attract new membership.

The design solution involved changing the Colonial/Neo-Georgian architectural style to a New England Costal style. As a result, the main clubhouse was brought down to the studs and fully reconstructed. A new formal main entry and arrival court provide a distinct sense of arrival and improved vehicular circulation. Members and guests are welcomed into an open lobby, lit by a custom chandelier, with views into the main dining room through a floor to ceiling doorway.

The main dining room was completely renovated creating a flexible space to host large events and ceremonies. The dining room looks out onto a new granite terrace, which features an outdoor bar, dining and soft seating and a fire pit. The grill room was renovated and expanded and includes a new rear-covered porch to provide an informal and relaxed outdoor dining space that utilizes the surrounding views of the 18th green and the Long Island Sound.

The Club’s ancillary buildings were also renovated. The tennis pavilion was expanded to include a pro-shop and a covered viewing patio that overlooks the tennis courts. The pool house was reconstructed to include a full service kitchen and bar, snack bar, recreation room, locker rooms, lifeguard and first aid facilities and outdoor terrace seating space.
