State Police Target Route 7 Street Racers In Norwalk

Extra troopers will be assigned to Route 7 in Norwalk to deter street racing and other forms of reckless driving, according to state police.

NORWALK, CT — Extra troopers will be assigned to Route 7 in Norwalk over the weekend to deter street racing and other forms of reckless driving, state police said Wednesday.

According to a post on the Connecticut State Police Troop G Facebook page, the extra troopers will be on the road Friday night into Saturday morning, in addition to troopers already on regular patrol.

These additional troopers will be specifically assigned to Route 7, state police said.

"The purpose of this is to increase state police presence and motor vehicle enforcement while deterring reckless driving, street racing and street congregation," the post reads.

The extra troopers will be focused on enforcing state laws involving speeding, reckless driving and racing, among others.

"Drive safe and remember," the post reads, "we will be actively seeking for those motorists that violate Connecticut General Statutes."
