Strong Showing for Norwalk in Saratoga Regatta

Norwalk River Rowing wins 12 medals at Saratoga Springs' Tail of the Fish regatta

12 of Norwalk River Rowings’ (NNRA) 27 entries to the “Tail of the Fish” regatta in Saratoga Springs, NY on Sept.27th returned with medals: three golds, three silvers and six bronzes. This was NRRA’s first regatta of the fall season where 26 clubs entered 310 boats to compete.

11 Norwalk athletes medal in the regatta: Amelia Ornato and Nicole Vacas won gold in the Girls V B 2x, and a silver in the Girls V 4+ with Norwalk rowers Olivia Clark and Gillian Castro. Clark and Castro also won bronze Girls V 2x. Another Norwalk athlete, Marina Christakos, helped propel the novice eight to a 3rd place finish.

Brian Helms of Norwalk rowed the gold-winningBoys V 4+ as well as the Boys V 8+ that won silver, along with Norwalk’s Kevin Conover and Chris Martensson. Martensson also won gold in the Boys V 2-. Will Pacella and Joel Ayala of Norwalk helped row the JV 8+ to its 2nd finish, while Ben Hufnagel won 3rd in Boys V B single.
