Sunday Jazz Program to Celebrate Black History Month at Norwalk Public Library
Jim Clark Presents: Ten Greatest African American Jazz Saxophonists

Norwalk, CT, February 2, 2016 – Celebrate Black History Month with the smooth sounds of Jazz at the Norwalk Public Library on Sunday, February 21st at 3:00 p.m. in the Main Auditorium, when world-class saxophonist Jim Clark will present Ten Greatest African American Jazz Saxophonists, in a salute to the contributions of these African American saxophone masters, and how they shaped our distinctly American art form – Jazz.
The program, equal parts performance and presentation, will explore the music of Cannonball Adderley, Sidney Bechet, John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, Grover Washington, Jr., Ben Webster and Lester Young, and reveal how their contributions have influenced the music and musicians, who came after them. Clark will perform to pre-recorded tracks, and provide back-story information about the featured artists.

In addition to being a saxophonist, and multi-instrumentalist, Jim Clark leads his own groups, playing tenor, alto and soprano sax, and performs and records in a wide variety of musical settings and styles. Whether he is in a recording studio, performing in a small local venue, or on stage at Carnegie Hall, Clark’s goal is the same – to play from the heart, with the highest level of musical excellence.
