Suspect Accused Of Stealing Checks From Norwalk Business: Police
The incident occurred in March 2019, according to police.

NORWALK, CT — A Paterson, New Jersey man was arrested on larceny and fraud charges after Norwalk police accused him stealing checks worth thousands of dollars from Direct Wines in Norwalk in March 2019, according to authorities.
The investigation began after the liquor store was notified by its bank that eight Direct Wines checks, which totaled $6,600, had been fraudulently deposited into personal accounts via an ATM. Direct Wines had mailed the checks on March 21, 2019, and was notified by the bank just over a week later.
"The [Norwalk Police] Fraud Unit began investigating this incident and discovered that some of those checks were deposited into a bank account belonging to Victor Cuevas," said Norwalk police in a statement.

Norwalk police obtained a warrant for Cuevas' arrest, and the suspect surrounded to police on Tuesday. He was charged with:
- Fourth-degree larceny
- Conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny
- Fraudulent use of an ATM
- Conspiracy to commit fraudulent use of an ATM
Cuevas was held in lieu of a $10,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on July 1.
