NORWALK, CT — Norwalk Police Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who police said robbed an Eveready taxi cab driver on Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk on Oct. 16. While the suspect told the cabbie that he had a handgun, none was ever shown.
The suspect was picked up by the cab at the Darien train station on the evening of the 16th and was driven to the Stop & Shop supermarket on Connecticut Avenue.
"Upon arriving at Stop & Shop, the driver requested payment and the suspect told the driver
not to turn around or he would shoot him," said Lt. Terrence Blake in a statement, adding that the cab driver was not injured in the incident. "The suspect grabbed the driver's cellular phone but dropped it in the cab before fleeing across the street to Shop Rite."
