Thousands In Scholarships Awarded To 54 Norwalk Students

More than $300,000 in scholarships are being awarded to the students, all of whom live in public housing, by the Norwalk Housing Authority.

NORWALK, CT — Fifty-four Norwalk students, all of who reside in public housing in the city, will receive scholarships from the Norwalk Housing Foundation, the charitable organization of the Norwalk Housing Authority, the group announced.

The recent high school graduates will divide more than $300,000 in awards. They received the awards last week during a ceremony in The SoNo Collection.

Since the scholarship program's inception in 1998, it has awarded more than $3.2 million in scholarships to more than 700 students, The Hour reported.

The foundation's scholarships are meant to help bridge the gap in funds the students will receive from their respective colleges and other scholarship opportunities.
