United Church Of Rowayton Hosts Backpack Drive Aug. 29

The Board of Christian Outreach of the United Church of Rowayton will hold a drive-by backpack and school supply collection on August 29.

The Board of Christian Outreach of the United Church of Rowayton will hold a drive-by backpack and school supply collection on Saturday, August 29. This drive helps students begin the new school year with the basic supplies they will need to succeed.

Donors simply drive into the church parking lot, where volunteers wearing masks and gloves will accept the donations.

The backpacks should be appropriate for elementary grade through high school age students. School supplies, such as pens and pencils, spiral notebooks, crayons, glue sticks, or scissors, can be placed inside the backpacks.

The Board of Christian Outreach hopes to collect at least 40 backpacks. They will be given to children who would otherwise have to do without.

The United Church of Rowayton is located at 210 Rowayton Avenue in Rowayton. The August 29 drive runs from 10am – 1pm. All donated material will be given to the Department of Children and Families for distribution.
