The academy will be presented primarily online to community residents. Residents will participate in classes designed to take them through the different aspects of law enforcement. Academy Instructors consist of highly trained and experienced Norwalk Police Officers and guests from partnering agencies. In addition to the classes, participants will have an opportunity to experience hands on presentations in person at the police department. These will be conducted outdoors, with masks required, and social distancing protocols adhered to.
Class participants will meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings to learn about the different divisions, specialized units, our state and federal partners and how the department operates. The feedback between participants and officers has been positive. The class gives everyone an opportunity to exchange information about the issues that concern their community.
