Weekend Car Carrier Fire Extinguished On I-95 In Norwalk: FD
The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire.

NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a reported car carrier fire Saturday afternoon on Interstate 95 in Norwalk. According to a press release, firefighters found a tractor-trailer car carrier with the cab, three vehicles and the passenger compartment of a fourth vehicle on fire.
Deputy Chief Todd M. Smith said tankers from the Darien Fire Department and the Noroton Heights Fire Department were requested to shuttle water from the nearest hydrant. A bucket ladder company was also utilized for access to the vehicles on the upper level of the carrier.
The remaining fire was suppressed and extinguished. Six 5-gallon cans of foam were used during the incident, Smith said.

Smith said there were no reported injuries.
I-95 Northbound was shut down throughout the event to allow access for fire department vehicles and shuttling of water. The highway was later re-opened and fire department operations ceased around 4 p.m., Smith said.
