Wegmans Aims For 2025 Opening In Norwalk, Construction Set For Spring
A spokesperson said construction of the Norwalk store's parking garage has already begun and work on the store will begin this spring.

NORWALK, CT — As construction of Connecticut's first Wegmans store starts up, a company spokesperson confirmed Thursday the Norwalk store is anticipated to open next year.
In an email to Patch, spokesperson Marcie Rivera said Wegmans is aiming to open the Norwalk store along Richards and Connecticut avenues in 2025, however an exact date has not been identified yet.
Rivera noted construction of one of the store's key features has already begun, and work on the actual store is set to begin soon.

"We’ve started construction on the parking garage," Rivera said, "and we aim to begin construction of the food market foundations this spring."
According to Rivera, the two-story Norwalk store will measure approximately 92,000 square feet and feature all of the grocery chain's popular offerings and departments, including a vast selection of restaurant foods options.

"This store is unique from other Wegmans locations," Rivera said, "in that it will include a two-story parking deck, solar panels on top of the roof and the parking deck and Tesla charging stations."
A planned Wegmans supermarket was first announced back in March 2022.
At the time of the announcement, a portion of the property was occupied by an office complex owned by MBI, Inc., which later moved its operations to a new office space on Main Avenue.
The Norwalk store will mark the popular grocery chain's first Connecticut location. Steve Leaty, a Wegmans project manager, said during an August 2022 meeting of the city's Planning and Zoning Commission that Wegmans' owners have wanted to open a Connecticut location for a while.

Once completed, Wegmans will join a roster of stores offering grocery items in the Connecticut Avenue area that includes ShopRite, Costco and one of the city's two Stop & Shop stores.
Stew Leonard's, the city's other large-scale grocery store, is located further away from the competition on Westport Avenue.
