Winners Announced at the Rowayton Arts Center

On Sunday, at the Rowayton Arts Center’s opening reception, the winners of the “Brushwork” exhibit were announced. There were 94 entries; the judge was Carmen Lund, faculty member of the Silvermine Arts Center. Best in Show was awarded to L. Richard Koleszar for his “Collective Memories.” The Walter Brooks Memorial Award ($250) was presented to the most outstanding watercolor: “Vista Sketch” by Ann Marie Tetelman. The exhibit chairs were Eunice Roy and Susan Leggitt. The winners are:

Acrylics: 1st place: Bevi Bullwinkel, “Transience V”
2nd: James Ryan, “Concept to Completion”
3rd: Kat Evans, “Splendor in the Grass”
Watercolors: 1st place: Ann Marie Tetelman, “Vista Sketch” (Brooks Award Winner)
2nd: Susan Spivak, “Fille Dor”
3rd: Marjorie Poe, “Blackbird and Maple Tree”
Oils: 1st place: Susan Leggitt, “Reflected Tide”
2nd: Sean Murtha, “Morning Breaks”
3rd: Joanne Leaman, “Bloom”
Exhibiting members in this exhibit worked only with traditional brush strokes in watercolors, acrylics and oils. Brush strokes ranged from fast, loose and bold to sharp hyper - realism. Floral arrangements—inspired by art—also adorn this exhibit. Arrangements are from Licari Custom Floral Designs by JP of Norwalk and by Adam Manjuck of Flowers and Flowers in Darien.
The exhibit will be on display until August 28. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday: 12 - 5, Sunday: 1- 4. For almost 60 years, the Rowayton Arts Center has been a cultural gem in the Norwalk community. The RAC Gallery and Art School overlook the scenic Five Mile River in Rowayton, CT at 145 Rowayton Avenue.
