1 Killed, 1 Injured In Shooting: Norwich Police

NORWICH, CT — One person was fatally shot and another person is in critical condition, Norwich police said.

At 11:53 a.m. Friday, Norwich Police Dispatch received several 911 calls regarding a disturbance in which witnesses described an abduction.

A witness followed a vehicle described as a black minivan out of the area.

While following the vehicle onto Maennerchor Avenue, witnesses stated they heard gunshots, police said.

When Norwich Police Officers arrived on Maennerchor Avenue, they saw a man walking away from a black minivan who was detained and later released, police said.

At the vehicle, officers discovered a man and a woman, both with gunshot wounds inside the minivan, police said.

The man died at the scene, and the woman is in critical condition in the hospital, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, and evidence suggests this is a domestic violence-related incident, police said.

"This is believed to be isolated, and there is no threat to the public," police said.
