NORWICH, CT — A City Council committee hears a presentation on the planned police headquarters at 300 Main St., the Public Parking Commission gets an update on downtown parking leases, and council members interview board candidates.
Here are five things to know about life around Norwich this week:
1. Committee Hears Police Headquarters Presentation
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m.
Where: Former Chelsea Groton Bank, 300 Main St.
What to know: The City Council's Public Safety Committee will hear a presentation on the police headquarters project and discuss a fire station alerting system, according to the agenda. In August, the council approved $55 million in bonding for the police headquarters at 300 Main St. Updates are also due from Norwich Public Utilities, American Ambulance, police, emergency management and the city's six fire departments. Citizens get three minutes each to comment.

2. Update On Downtown Parking Lease Negotiations
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 5:30 p.m.
Where: Room 319, City Hall, 100 Broadway
What to know: The Public Parking Commission will get an update on negotiations over downtown parking leases, along with a financial report and a memo from the comptroller's office, according to the agenda.

When: Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Thomas W. Mahan Elementary School, 94 Salem Turnpike
What to know: Precinct 4 voters will cast ballots at Mahan School instead of their usual polling place because of the construction and demolition of John B. Stanton School, according to the city clerk's legal notice.
