• Multiple Firefighters Evaluated for ‘Exertion' While Battling Fire at CT Duplex (firefighternation.com) — Firefighters from Norwich and surrounding departments knocked down a serious duplex fire on North 3rd Avenue in Taftville Thursday night, with several responders evaluated for exertion but no other injuries reported. Crews stretched multiple hose lines, searched upper floors, and performed overhaul while the Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office investigates what sparked the blaze.    

• H.S. softball roundup: No. 10 NFA wins seventh straight, beating Ledyard (theday.com) — Norwich Free Academy’s softball team stretched its win streak to seven with an 8-3 road victory over Ledyard, led by pitcher-hitter Dakota Bourdon and a big day from Bella Ruta. Elsewhere, Norwich Tech fell 16-4 to Plainfield despite strong strikeout work from pitcher Maya Stimson, in a busy slate of Eastern Connecticut high school softball games.
