NORWICH, CT — A car plunged into a pond and a driver had to be rescued, according to a post from Norwich Firefighters Local 892.
Firefighters and paramedics were called out to Salem Turnpike near the onramp for I-395 northbound for a report of a car in a drainage pond at 2:07 a.m. Wednesday.
The driver was in the car when emergency personnel arrived.
An emergency responder put on a wet suit and entered the water. He opened the car's hatchback and helped the driver out of the car in about 3 feet of water.
The driver refused to be taken to the hospital.
