(Kunstraum) Dada Post was an artist-run organization, founded in January 2008, by Howard McCalebb in Berlin, Germany. In 2022 Mr. McCalebb moved to Norwich, Connecticut, and establish the art gallery Dada Post USA. Mr. McCalebb is a sculptor and active figure on the international art scene. Dada Post USA is an autonomous space for the production, display and discussion of current art. Foremost, we contemplate artistic expression from the standpoint of pure inspiration emanating from the source – the artist. We are keenly interested in the effects of Globalization on art practice, and the notion of a hybridized Post Modern art practice. As a contemporary art space, Dada Post USA is primarily concerned with artwork that is the most current, reflecting the actual meaning of the term: Contemporary Art. We offer a program of exhibitions and events, featuring videos, poetry/literary readings, music and other live performances, during and between art exhibitions. The original inspiration for both (Kunstraum) Dada Post and Dada Post USA was the Cabaret Voltaire in Zürich, Switzerland and Andy Warhol’s Factory in New York City – which were open venues for impromptu gatherings, events, and artistic experimentation. GRISWOLD, CT -- A pedestrian was killed when a driver struck her on a sidewalk in Griswold on Thursday, according to state police.A BMW X5 was driving north at 3:44 p.m. on Main Street in the left lane when it crossed through the opposite lane and onto a sidewalk.In addition to hitting a pedestrian, the car hit two street signs, a U.S. Post Office Building, and two parked cars.The pedestrian, Bernice LaRochelle, 78, was declared dead at the scene of the accident, state police said.The BMW's driver was taken to William Backus Hospital via ambulance for treatment.Two windows at the post office building were damaged in the crash. The crash is under investigation.Anyone who witnessed the accident or has information can contact Trooper Timothy Wengloski or Trooper Christopher Brett at 860-848-6500 ext. 5.
