Dolphin Sighted In Thames River In Norwich: Reports
A dolphin was spotted in the Thames River on Thursday.
NORWICH, CT — A dolphin was spotted in the Thames River in Norwich on Thursday, The New Haven Register reported. Mystic Aquarium received reports regarding the sightings and reached out the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which advised the aquarium to monitor the dolphin.
Norwich police went to the area to tell fishermen to pull their lines from the water, according to The New Haven Register. An aquarium first responder went to assess the dolphin, but it had already left the area.
Videos were posted to social media showing the dolphin jumping out of the water at the Norwich Marina, according to WNTH News-8. The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection saw photos on Thursday morning and believe the mammal is an Atlantic white-sided dolphin.
