Fugitive Arrested In Norwich Pleads Guilty To Federal Gun Charge
Lewis Corwise, 29, of Norwich and New York, pleaded guilty to a federal gun charge and faces a mandatory five years in prison.
NORWICH, CT—Lewis Corwise tried to run from Norwich Police back in 2018 when they tried to arrest him on a New York City warrant. But they caught him and when they did, he had a loaded Springfield xD-45 handgun, a zip lock bag containing nearly 60 grams of heroin, a digital scale, and five cellphones.
Thursday, after being in custody for more than a year, the 29-year-old of both Norwich and New York, pleaded guilty to federal gun charge "in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime."
The United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut announced his plea.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on April 5, 2018, Norwich Police arrived at a house to arrest Corwise, who had a warrant for in New York. But Corwise attempted to run from police, he "resisted and was apprehended." And that's when police found the gun and the drugs.
According to New York prison records, Corwise was convicted of robbery in 2008 when he was just 19. He was sentenced to serve three years, did less than two and was paroled in 2010.

Corwise faces a mandatory five years in prison, at least. He'll be sentenced Oct. 24.
