Norwich Bank Robbery Foiled: PD
Officers found an armed man near the bank around closing time, police said.

NORWICH, CT — A Port Jefferson, N.Y. man was arrested after he plotted to rob the Dime Bank in Norwich, according to police.
Police arrived at the bank around 11:50 a.m. July 29 and found Maximilian Beres, 30, in close proximity to the bank. He wore everal layers of clothing and was armed with two knives, police said.
Police discovered Beres' plan was to rob the bank just before closing time. He has prior arrests for bank robbery in New York State, police said.

He was charged with criminal attempt at first-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny, carrying a dangerous weapon and illegal possession of a motor vehicle marker plate.
