Norwich Bishop Presides Over Blessing of the Fleet, Pays Tribute to Lost Fishermen
The ceremony honored fishermen who are lost while blessing vessels now docked in Stonington.

STONINGTON, CT – The 63rd annual Blessing of the Fleet took place Sunday to honor lost fishermen and bless the vessels currently docked in Stonington, the Westerly Sun reported.
Norwich Diocese Bishop Michael Cote gave his blessing Sunday at Stonington Town Dock, according to the Westerly Sun. The blessing followed a fisherman’s mass at St. Mary Church.
A memorial wreath was laid in honor of lost fishermen outside the Stonington Harbor breakwater, the Westerly Sun reported. It was tossed in the water by the widow of a lifelong Stonington fisherman who was killed last year.
