Norwich Catholic Diocese Files For Bankruptcy
The diocese is facing numerous lawsuits from men who say they were abused at a school the diocese ran in the 1990s.

NORWICH, CT — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Norwich has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, WTNH News-8 reported. The diocese used to run Mount Saint John School in Deep River where dozens of men say they were abused when they were students there in the 1990s.
Sixty lawsuits have been filed against the diocese and a former bishop, according to WTNH News-8. The expenses from the lawsuit have led to the current bishop to seek protection from Chapter 11, meaning that a court will decide what to do about the lawsuits rather than the diocese fighting each one.
