Norwich Council Looking Into Tearing Down Vacant Reid & Hughes Building
If no developer comes forth soon, the building may only stand for a few more months.

NORWICH, CT- A resolution was passed at Monday’s City Council meeting to have City Manager John Salomone report on the long vacant Reid & Hughes building at their Aug. 1 meeting, The Day reported.
This means the building at 193-198 Main Street may have less than three months to stand if no developer comes forth by Sept. 14, according to The Day. Council members said Monday that demolition of the property should start by mid-September if that is the case.
Salomone will be looking into the building’s condition, any structural issues and health and safety risks, The Day reported. Fears of a possible fire with vagrants trapped inside the building and other concerns were expressed by council members.
