Female Motorist Killed In Crash In Norwich: Police

The Thursday morning fatal accident is still under investigation, according to police.

NORWICH, CT — A female motorist has died from injuries she sustained in a Thursday morning crash on West Thames Street, according to police.

Police had not yet released the victim’s name as of Thursday afternoon.

Lt. Steve Schmidt said police received a 911 call around 8:17 a.m. Thursday reporting a serious motor vehicle collision near 704 West Thames St.

First responders arrived and discovered a vehicle had been involved in a head-on collision with a heavy-duty wrecker, according to police.

While the female driver of the vehicle was taken to Backus Hospital, she died, police said.
