The city could see a 112 percent increase in fatal overdoses if the trend set by the first three months of 2016 continues.

NORWICH, CT- The number of drug overdoses in Norwich this year could be more than double last year’s total if the trend set by the first three months of 2016 continues, The Day reported.
Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the state data said Norwich saw nine overdose deaths from January to March this year, according to The Day. Should that rate hold steady, there would be 36 deaths from drug overdose in Norwich by the end of the year.
The total for the city last year was 17, meaning this year’s total would be a 112 percent increase, The Day reported. That would also combine with a projected 14 percent increase statewide and a 20 percent national increase.
