Norwich Man Accused of Stabbing Pregnant Deemed Still Incompetent to Stand Trial

A man who stands accused of stabbing his pregnant wife to death has not been ruled mentally competent for trial.

NORWICH, CT – A Norwich man accused of fatally stabbing his pregnant wife has still not been deemed competent to stand trial, The Day reported.

Patrick Antoine, 40, stands accused of stabbing his wife, Margarette Mady, to death while she was pregnant with their baby daughter and lighting their apartment on fire, according to The Day. Antoine later told police he thought Mady a voodoo priestess who intended to sacrifice him.

The suspect was deemed incompetent to stand trial in August for psychiatric reasons, and has not made enough progress, The Day reported. The case has been continued to Jan. 3 so the restoration process may continue.
