Norwich Man Charged In 2025 Shooting At Local Business: PD

Two bystanders were injured, according to police.

NORWICH, CT — A local man was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for a September shooting outside the Pistol Pete’s Bar & Grill which injured two people, according to police.

Sgt. Ken Wright said police charged Jerrod Steele, 37, of 50 Palmer St., with first-degree assault, criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm, second-degree breach of peace, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

The shooting happened on Sept. 20, 2025 at 29 Stonington Rd.

According to police, an investigation determined Steele discharged a firearm in the business’ parking lot and struck two uninvolved bystanders.

The two victims were rushed to William W. Backus Hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Steele was arraigned in Superior Court in New London, and his case was continued to March 25. He is currently in federal custody for an unrelated case, police said.
