Norwich Man Sentenced For 2nd Time In Fatal Stabbing: Reports

A Norwich man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for a second time in connection with a 2015 homicide.

NORWICH, CT — A man found guilty of fatally stabbing a woman in her Norwich apartment in 2015 has been sentenced to 60 years in prison. Jean Jacques, 48, was accused of entering Casey Chadwick's apartment June 15, 2015, and stabbing her multiple times before putting her body in a closet, FOX 61 reported.

Jacques was convicted of murder in 2016 and sentenced to 60 years. However, the case was overturned on an appeal in the state Supreme Court, according to The New London Day. The state found that the case should be retried because a police search of his apartment was deemed illegal.

In the retrial, Jacques was charged with the same crimes using different evidence. He was sentenced to 60 years in prison a second time.

Chadwick had 15 stab wounds on her neck and face, a medical examiner stated after an examination in 2015. The prosecution sought to prove that Jacques stabbed Chadwick after a disagreement about drugs kept in the apartment.
