Norwich Podiatrist Pays To Settle False Claim Allegations

The podiatrist agreed to pay the government back for certain services that weren't provided to Medicare patients, according to officials.

NORWICH, CT — A Norwich podiatrist has agreed to pay $35,000 to settle allegations made that he violated the False Claims Act.

Edward Tarka was alleged to have made fraudulent billings to Medicare by "upcoding" routine foot care matters to a more expensive procedure, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office.

Tarka will repay the government $35,000 for conduct that occurred between August 2008 and August 2012.
