NORWICH, CT — A Norwich police lieutenant has died of complications related to COVID-19, according to reports.

Josip Peperni was with the Norwich Police Department for 19 years. Over the past near two-decades, he's served the department in many roles including patrol officer, a K-9 officer, School Resource Officer and most recently, a patrol shift commander.

According to reports, Peprni is survived by his wife and two adult children.
