Norwich Police Recognized for Role in Major Narcotics Investigation

Investigations turned cocaine, heroin, $53,500 and more, and resulted in more than 20 arrests.

NEW LONDON, CT- Officers Joseph Pelchat, Jeremy Zelinski, and Sgt. Cornelius Rodgers were recognized and awarded a Unit Citation Award by the Connecticut State Police Wednesday.

According to a recent Facebook post, they were awarded for their diligence and investigative efforts associated with a major narcotics investigation. This effort resulted in the execution of eleven state search warrants, twenty state and local arrests and fourteen federal indictments charging individuals with a number of narcotics and firearms-related offenses.

1.3 kilograms of powder cocaine, 1.1 kilograms of crack cocaine, 416 grams of heroin, 5 stolen firearms, approximately $53,500 and 8 vehicles were also seized during these investigations.

Members of the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force-East Office (SNTF-E), U.S. Attorney's Office, Office of Chief State's Attorney, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Norwich PD, Waterford PD, Groton City PD, and Groton Town PD were also honored for their participation and dedicated efforts in the investigation.
