Norwich Vigil Brings More than 150 People Together in Wake of Recent Violence

The event drew a large crowd and even larger emotion.

NORWICH, CT- A Tuesday night vigil at City Hall plaza brought more than 150 people together to honor victims of recent violence, The Day reported.

The event attracted speeches from notable officials, including Norwich Mayor Deberey Hinchey and Norwich NAACP branch president Jacqueline Owens, according to The Day. Recent acts of violence in Louisiana, Minnesota and Dallas were spotlighted, as well as the deadly Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando.

The names of several Norwich police officers who died on duty over the years were read aloud; servers to the department which Owens called the best in the nation, according to The Day. The law enforcement oath of honor was also read aloud to the emotional crowd.
