Norwich Woman Charged With Attempted Murder In Stabbing: Police

A woman was charged with attempted murder after stabbing a victim, according to police.

NORWICH, CT — A woman is facing charges that she stabbed and injured a victim, according to police.

Police received a call Thursday at 11:25 a.m. reporting an assault. Police were dispatched to a Briar Lane address where two injured females were located.

At the home police found a female victim had suffered "significant injuries from multiple puncture wounds on areas of her upper body, consistent with being stabbed," police said in a statement.

Both were taken to Backus Hospital for treatment while officers secured the home pending a search and seizure warrant.

The victim remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Police investigated and prepared an arrest warrant.

Mary Beth Kostek, 45, of Norwich, was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault, and cruelty to persons.

She was held on $1.5 million bond and scheduled to arraignment Friday at Norwich Superior Court.
