Police: DUI Hit & Run Driver Was 3 Times Legal Limit

With blood alcohol three times the limit, a 39-year-old Norwich woman was charged Saturday by Westerly cops after a Misquamicut hit and run.

WESTERLY, RI— Driving with a blood alcohol limit three times the legal limit, a Norwich woman was charged after a hit-and-run at Misquamicut Saturday, Westerly RI police said. Morgan Ann Steele, 39, was charged with failing to stop after an accident, driving under the influence, and driving with a suspended license.

Westerly Police confirmed they got a call late Saturday afternoon about a minor rear-ending hit-and-run on Atlantic Avenue. No one was hurt, The Westerly Sun reported.

Police said Steele took off but was stopped not far from the police station near Winnapaug and Airport roads shortly after.

Police confirmed she blew Breathalyzer readings of .278 and .265. The legal limit in Rhode Island is 0.08.
