Police: Predawn Shooting Targeted Surrey Lane Home

Norwich Police, who believe an overnight shooting on Surrey Lane that left one injured was a targeted attack, seek info and security video.

NORWICH, CT—Gunshots rang out at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday outside a house on Surrey Lane and Norwich police believe it may have been a targeted shooting. One person inside the house was injured and transported to the hospital. That person's condition is currently unknown.

Police Lt. John Perry said several shots were fired at the house. Police said it was "not a random act" but said there was no "current threat" to the community.

Perry said, "the safety of our community is of the upmost importance" to the police department and it will "be working tirelessly to bring those who committed this heinous act to justice."

According to Perry, officers responded to a 911 call of shots fired at 35 Surrey Lane at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and found several rounds had been fired and one person hurt.

The police department is asking anyone in the area with information, including security camera video, to contact Norwich Police Detective Wilbur at (860) 886-5561 ext. 3154.
