(Kunstraum) Dada Post was an artist-run organization, founded in January 2008, by Howard McCalebb in Berlin, Germany. In 2022 Mr. McCalebb moved to Norwich, Connecticut, and establish the art gallery Dada Post USA. Mr. McCalebb is a sculptor and active figure on the international art scene. Dada Post USA is an autonomous space for the production, display and discussion of current art. Foremost, we contemplate artistic expression from the standpoint of pure inspiration emanating from the source – the artist. We are keenly interested in the effects of Globalization on art practice, and the notion of a hybridized Post Modern art practice. As a contemporary art space, Dada Post USA is primarily concerned with artwork that is the most current, reflecting the actual meaning of the term: Contemporary Art. We offer a program of exhibitions and events, featuring videos, poetry/literary readings, music and other live performances, during and between art exhibitions. The original inspiration for both (Kunstraum) Dada Post and Dada Post USA was the Cabaret Voltaire in Zürich, Switzerland and Andy Warhol’s Factory in New York City – which were open venues for impromptu gatherings, events, and artistic experimentation. NORWICH, CT — A man with a gun who was threatening "suicide by cop," was talked into surrendering by police. Police were called to the Holiday Inn on Laura Boulevard at around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Norwich Police Sgt. Nicolas Rankin. The person was threatening police with a firearm hoping to force officers to shoot him, police said. Police evacuated the people in the rooms on the floors above where the man was to try and "establish communication." A little more than two hours after police arrived, at 5:50 a.m., the person surrendered. A gun was found in the room. Police said the person was taken to the hospital for a "emergency psychological evaluation." Norwich Police thanked Connecticut State Police for help handling other calls while they were dealing with the incident and also thanked Holiday Inn staff and guests for being cooperative. The person's name was not released. It's unknown what charges they will face.
