Proposed $3.2 Million Budget Cuts Could Mean Loss of 34 School Staff Jobs
Both certified and noncertified positions are in danger if cuts are approved by the Board of Education.

The Board of Education’s budget committee has reviewed a proposed $3.2 million budget cut, which could mean the loss of 17 noncertified and 17 certified public school positions if approved, The Day reported.
The list of cuts was presented Wednesday by school administrators, which are mainly a response to the $75.4 million 2016-17 public school budget, according to The Day. The budget will be finalized during the Board’s meeting Tuesday.
Cut certified positions would include eight classroom teachers, four instructional specialists and three reading teachers among others, and save a projected $560,000, The Day reported. Noncertified positions include three tutors and seven family liaisons, which would save approximately $160,000.
