Residents Pin Down Man Carrying Assault Rifle In Home Invasion: Report

A man is accused of entering a home with an assault rifle, according to a report.

NORWICH, CT — A man is accused of entering a family of five's home with an assault rifle early Monday morning, according to WTNH News-8. Police received a call shortly after 5:30 a.m. reporting that the man entered a Cliff Street home with a gun, News 8 reported.

When police arrived, they found several residents holding down the suspect in a bedroom, according to a report. The suspect, Jevon Scholl, was armed with an assault rifle, News 8 reported. A shot was fired and struck the ceiling during the dispute, News 8 reported.

WFSB 3 TV reported that a second suspect, possibly named, "Mel" has not yet been located. Three children were inside the home at the time of the incident, WFSB 3 TV reported.

Scholl was charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor, home invasion, criminal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of high capacity magazine, illegal possession of an assault rifle, and third-degree assault.

Scholl was given a $1 million bond, WFSB 3 TV reported.
