HARTFORD, CT — U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) will host and attend several events with community members and advocates around eastern Connecticut on Monday.

Electric Boat Legislative Briefing in Groton

Murphy will join Jeff Geiger, President of Electric Boat Corp., and other state officials at the Electric Boat annual legislative briefing to hear an update on the defense manufacturer’s plans in the new year.

Celebration of Passage of Mental Health Reforms and Addiction Funding in Griswold

Murphy will join Griswold First Selectman Kevin Skulczyck in hosting members of Griswold P.R.I.D.E., Connecticut families, mental health advocates, medical professionals, and other local officials on Monday to celebrate the final passage of his bipartisan Mental Health Reform Act as well as $1 billion in emergency funding to address the opioid and heroin epidemic. Murphy will hear from local residents about their experiences with mental health and addiction. He will also discuss his efforts to secure federal funding for communities across Connecticut to combat the opioid crisis and outline how the new mental health law will provide relief to Connecticut residents struggling with mental illness or addiction.

Keynote Speaker at the Eastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce in Norwich
