Update: Shooting Near Norwich Court, 2 Shot, 1 In Custody, 1 At Large
State police confirmed it's assisting Norwich police in an "active investigation" as a shooting was reported. Courthouse lock-down lifted.
NORWICH, CT — A late morning shooting outside the Norwich Superior Court on Main Street and Courthouse Square in Norwich is being investigated by Norwich police and Connecticut State Police, a state police spokesperson confirmed.
The courthouse was locked down for a period of time, a staffer confirmed, but that has since been lifted.
Norwich police Sgt. Nicholas Rankin told The Day that two people were shot, both inside a car. and were taken to the hospital.

One person was taken into custody shortly after the 11:30 shooting, as law enforcement searched an area for a gun the person is alleged to have ditched, police said.
Another person allegedly involved in the shooting was being sought by police. At around 12:30 p.m., a police be-on-the-lookout was sent out for a 2021 black Nissan Rogue with a broken driver side window.
