State Police Release ID Of Victim In Fatal Norwich Crash

The accident happened on I-395 northbound on April 21.

NORWICH, CT — A Massachusetts resident has been identified as the motorist who was killed in a crash on I-395 last week.

The driver, Jacques Bertheau, 78, of Brockton, Mass., suffered fatal injuries in the April 21 one-vehicle accident, state police said Tuesday.

State police said the accident happened around 10:48 a.m. on the northbound side of the highway, in the vicinity of exit 18.

Police said a green 2004 Nissan Xterra collided with the Lawler Lane overpass in the right shoulder after going off the roadway. The vehicle came to a final rest in the middle of I-395 Northbound.

Bertheau was transported to William W. Backus Hospital, and he was later taken to Hartford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
