U.S. Marshals Capture Man Wanted On CT Child Pornography Charges

NORWICH, CT — A fugitive wanted on child pornography charges was caught attempting to cross the border back into the U.S. from Mexico, according to a statement from U.S. Marshals. Thomas Marcel failed to appear in court in Norwich in 2012.

The court appearance was related to a 2008 arrest by Connecticut State Police Troop E on two counts of enticing a minor by computer, illegal possession of child pornography, promoting a minor in an obscene performance, and risk of injury to a minor.

The U.S. Marshal Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task Force, U.S. Marshal Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (El Paso, TX), Connecticut State Police, and the Customs and Border Protection located and caught Marcel on Monday. He was attempting to cross the border back into the U.S. from Mexico at the El Paso crossing.

Marcel is being housed at the El Paso County Detention Facility in Texas and is awaiting extradition back to Connecticut to face the charge of first-degree failure to appear.
