From NFA: NFA congratulates the winners of the 36th annual Lillian S. Young Spelling Bee, held Monday, November 19 in Slater Auditorium.

The winners and their winning words are as follows: Presley Hill ’19 - “fuselage,” Alex Ji ’20 –“terrestrial,” Adora Ake ’21 –“ambassador,” and Emma Browning ’22 – “indignity.” They receive cash prizes and recognition. DeVol Joyner, Board of Trustees Vice Chairman; Joe Miragliuolo, retired Special Education teacher; and Sheri Tanner, Principal of Kelly Middle School, judged the contest.

“The students worked very hard to prepare for this year's competition,” said Tracey Dedonato, English Department Head. “They studied a list of over 600 words before the preliminary round, and then they prepared on their own for the final competition in Slater. The winners should be extremely proud of their accomplishment.” 61 students tried out for the competition by studying a master list of words and auditioning on October 31.
