2 Drivers Play 'Chicken;' Crash Into One Another: Police

Orange police pfficers responded to the scene of a two-car, head-on collision on Kennedy Drive at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 9.

Officers learned that the drivers of the two cars, Daniel Nagorski, 38, of Kennedy Drive and Oliwia Bones, 19, of Bradley Avenue in Waterbury, had allegedly been playing ‘chicken’ with their vehicles when the accident occurred, police said.

In the game of chicken, two vehicles drive toward each other on the same path of travel until one of them swerves to avoid contact, police said. The driver of the car that swerves first is then labeled the ‘chicken’.

In this particular game of chicken, both vehicles swerved in the same direction, striking each other head-on, police said.

Officers had one of the drivers perform standardized roadside sobriety tests. Both drivers were taken into custody and charged.

Nagorski is charged with DUI, driving a motor vehicle under suspension, reckless driving, failure to drive in proper lane, and failure to provide an insurance card.

Bones is charged with reckless driving and failure to drive in a proper lane.

They were both released after posting $500 each.
