Police said one of the men tried to struggle with store employees.

ORANGE, CT — Two West Haven men are accused of attempting to steal nearly $600 worth of goods from ShopRite in Orange, police said.

Officers responded to the ShopRite store regarding a larceny complaint last week. Officers learned that the two arrestees, Sylvester Loyd, 38, and Gregory Gibbs, 60, had taken $586 worth of merchandise from the store without attempting to pay, police said.

When store employees confronted the two men, Loyd began to struggle with the employees and was still doing so when officers arrived, police said. Both parties were taken into custody and charged. Loyd was turned over to New Haven police officers after being processed for the Orange incident, police said.
