25-Year-Old Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries In Crash: Orange PD

A six-year-old child was a passenger in the vehicle and suffered minor injuries.

ORANGE, CT — A 25-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries after a serious motor vehicle accident, Orange Police say. A six-year-old child was also inside the car and suffered minor injuries.

At 10 p.m. Wednesday, Orange Police responded to a serious one-car motor vehicle accident on Racebrook Road (Rt. 114) near the Woodbridge town line. Preliminary investigation shows that a 2008 Toyota Rav4 was traveling southbound on Rt.114 at a high rate of speed when the 25 year-old driver lost control of the vehicle, police said.

The car crossed the centerline into the northbound lane before leaving the roadway and crashing into a tree, police said. The driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was extricated from the vehicle by the Orange Volunteer Fire Department. There was also a 6-year-old passenger in the Toyota who was able to release his restraints and get out of the vehicle with minor injuries, police said.

The Orange Police crash reconstruction team responded to take over the investigation. The driver's name is not being released at this time until the Department is certain that the driver's family has been notified, police said.
