A New Twist on the Wizard of Oz

Turkey Hill School always seems to find a way to keep its children motivated and happy.

This year Deborah Sansone took on the job of directing the spring production of "The Wizard of Oz."

She re-wrote the play so she could involve as many interested students in the play as possible, and in the end, had a cast of 75 from all grade levels — first through sixth.

How did she do it? Well, there were 12 Dorothys and Totos (2 from each grade level) and multiples of each of the other primary players; Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Witch, etc.

The first grade started off the play with an adorable intro, and continued with the familiar story, just with different actors in the roles in each scene.

Confusing? Perhaps, but once the audience got used to the concept, it was really easy to follow and didn't matter who was playing what role.

The play premiered on Friday night and had a second show today from 12 to 2 p.m.
