Amity Regional High School Student Wins National Merit Scholarship
Only 2,500 out of more than 15,000 finalists were awarded the scholarship.
ORANGE, CT —Amity Regional High School student Liliana Restrepo from Orange was awarded a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Restrepo plans to study environmental policy in college.
The winners were chosen from a pool of more than 15,000 finalists. The scholars were selected by a committee of college admission officers and high school counselors. Academic records, preliminary SAT/SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test scores and leadership in school and community activities were taken into account.
Most of the $2,500 scholarship awards are financed by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Some also come from company foundations that sponsor awards.
