ORANGE, CT — The Orange Historical Society recently announced the awarding of its 2026 Chance Thompson Memorial Scholarship to Amity Senior Amanda Giachino.
Giachino is being recognized for her years of volunteering with the Historical Society.
“She has helped at many functions, but most impressively has learned enough to become a docent at our 1740 Bryan-Andrew House,” according to a news release from the Orange Historical Society. “Stop by some Sunday (1-3PM) at 131 Old Tavern, and let Amanda guide you through the house before she goes off to college.
“The Chance Thompson Scholarship is named for a young lady who had been a junior Board Member of the Society. Chance tragically died after being hit by a car on Old Tavern Road.”
The historical society welcomes high school students who have an interest in history to its volunteer ranks. Contact the Orange Historical Society at orangehistorical@yahoo.com.
